  1. I’d take a little advice from a certain Nick Bland sheep and pack a pillow for underneath his head. ;-)

  2. Karen said: On March 4, 2014

I asked my 3.5 year old and he said “toilet paper”!!!

  3. Erin said: On March 4, 2014

    Chocolate Teddy Bear biscuits:)

  4. Honey sandwiches! What better way is there to attract bears?

  5. Kate said: On March 4, 2014

Plenty of food, so the bear eats that rather than me

  6. Tania said: On March 4, 2014

My 2 year old says we should take the book!

  7. Mel said: On March 4, 2014

A torch to see in the dark cave and to get through the snowstorm, a slice made of rice bubbles and melted marshmallows, cut into star or snowflake shapes.

  8. I would pack the following items in our bear hunt picnic boxes:
    - Seedless grape skewers for tall swishy grass.
    - Blue heaven jelly in little cups for the wide cold river.
    - Apple purée for the icky sticky mud.
    - Celery & carrot sticks standing upright in cups on spinach and feta dip for the tall dark forest.
    - Homemade marshmallow rice bubble treats cut into mini star shapes, for the cold snow storm.
    - Rounded vegemite sandwiches with a bear shape cut out on the top piece of bread, for the bear in the very dark cave.

  9. We would take a treasure chest of Sandwiches as the bear would never find them in there. (take a rectangular loaf of unsliced bread, open the top like a flap, cut out the inside, make little sandwiches out of what you have taken out and put them back into the hollow “chest”. Definately bear proof and so yummy for hungry bear hunters.

  10. Honey jumbles, lemon tea
A bit of choccy, just for me
    Berries, peaches and a pear
    Something healthy for the bear!

I would make fancy salmon sandwiches, bears would like them I think..

  12. In the words of my 6 year old ……

we will carry superhero sandwiches to give us energy while going through all the challenges. We will make sure to carry friendly honey cake for the bear so that he can also have a bit of fun.

  13. Our bear hunt picnic would consist of chopped steamed spinach for the long grass, blue bottles of water for the water, steamed broccoli and cauliflower for the forest, fluffy mashed potato for the snow storm, roast beef and gravy for the mud and teddy bear bikkies inside chocolate donuts for bears in a dark cave.

  14. A salad consisting of sweet honeydew, salty salmon and crispy crunchy cucumbers to cool the bear down!

  15. COURAGE!!!

  16. I like to think beyond the usual stereotypes of a bear’s palate. I’d pack olives for the salty loving brown bears, sushi for the health conscious grizzlies and water for the thirsty polar bears.

  17. Hot chocolate, and marshmallows of course.

  18. We’re going down to the beach today
    Our picnic box is brimming
With pineapple juice and chicken satay
    And ALL of the trimming.

A plastic bag (to clean up our mess)
    Salads for the picking
A surprise dessert, I must confess
And a footy ball for kicking.

  19. We would a really full picnic box so.the bear would get distracted and we would have time to run away.

  20. I would bring my new copy of ‘ Going on a BeAr Hunt.’ I can’t believe I have never read this book!

  21. We would pack some gumboots to help us get through the thick oozy mud, a torch for looking in dark caves and some favourite bear foods: honey and salmon. We would also pack our runners so that once we found the bear we could run home as fast as we could and hide under the safety of our doona.

  22. I’d pack my big brother in the picnic box. That way the bear can eat my brother and not me. ;)

  23. Bear-beware-spray !! For just Incase we come across any bears :)

  24. I’d take cupcakes, honey for the bear, a few good books and my son’s favourite blue teddy.

  25. Master 2 said he would take honey sandwiches (with an extra for the bear) and also suggested taking a teddy bear for him because he looks so lonely walking back to the cave at the end of the story!

  26. We would pack binoculars for some restful cloud gazing!

  27. A clean handkerchief. My Nanna always told me that where ever you go you should always have a clean hanky. My Nanna was a very talented and clever lady, so I’d definitely take a hanky on a bear hunt!!!!
