My Little Bookcase (“we”, “our”, “us”) runs the website at https://www.mylittlebookcase.com.au/. This page sets out how we collect, use, and protect your information.
What we collect
Comments. When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymised hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar so your profile picture can appear next to your comment. Gravatar’s privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.
Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect the email address you provide. Newsletter delivery is handled by Mailchimp; their privacy policy is at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
Contact form. If you message us through the contact form we collect your name, email, and message so we can reply.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how readers find us. Google receives standard browser information and a randomised identifier; we do not collect names or email addresses through analytics. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Cookies. If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email and website in cookies so you don’t have to fill them in again next time. These last for one year. WordPress also sets short-lived cookies during login (these don’t apply to ordinary readers).
Embedded content. Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, social posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same as if you had visited the source website directly — those sites may collect data about you, set cookies, and track your interaction.
How we use your information
- To publish your comment and reply to it.
- To send you the newsletter you signed up for.
- To respond to messages you send through the contact form.
- To understand which posts readers find useful, so we can write more of them.
- To detect and block spam and abuse.
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be threaded. Newsletter subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them to follow up on the conversation.
Your rights
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
To make a request, email [email protected] or use the contact page.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. We apply standard security headers, keep WordPress and our plugins updated, and review access logs for unusual activity.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, mention it on the homepage.
